About Us

Our Vision

Our vision is to strengthen the quality of medical interpreting by providing practical, specialized training that prepares interpreters for the realities of healthcare settings. We believe that effective medical interpreters need more than strong language skills—they need a solid understanding of interpreting ethics, professional standards, cultural awareness, medical terminology, and the ability to communicate accurately and confidently in challenging situations.

Through experienced instruction, specialized medical courses, and interactive Role-Plays, we give interpreters the opportunity to apply their knowledge to realistic healthcare situations and develop the skills needed to succeed in the field.

Our goal is to help interpreters grow professionally, improve the quality of communication between patients and healthcare providers, and ultimately contribute to better healthcare experiences for everyone involved.

Our Curriculum

Our medical interpreter curriculum is designed to provide interpreters with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to effectively navigate real-world healthcare settings. Each course combines essential interpreting principles with specialized medical terminology, communication skills, ethics, cultural awareness, and practical application.

A key component of our curriculum is our Medical Role-Play courses, which place interpreters in realistic healthcare scenarios they are likely to encounter on the job. These interactive exercises allow interpreters to practice interpreting techniques, terminology, and professional communication in a structured learning environment.

Our courses cover a variety of medical specialties and are designed for both aspiring and experienced interpreters. By combining expert instruction with realistic Role-Plays, we help interpreters strengthen their skills and become better prepared to provide accurate, effective, and professional interpreting services in healthcare settings.

Our Story

Our Story

After spending 14 years living in Ecuador, Gene and Alice Rainone returned to the United States with a deep, firsthand understanding of Latin America, its cultures, and the Spanish language. They went on to become Spanish instructors at community colleges in Western North Carolina and have authored nine textbooks used in the classroom.

In 2004, they founded Verbatim Language Services, Inc., a translation and interpreting company providing services in more than 300 languages to medical facilities, schools, government agencies, businesses, and legal organizations. In December 2025, Verbatim Language Services, Inc. was acquired by another company and continues to uphold the highest standards in the interpreting and translation industry.

Today, Gene and Alice are dedicating their time and experience to helping seasoned interpreters strengthen their skills while training aspiring interpreters as they work toward becoming qualified and accredited professionals.

Throughout his career, Gene has made it a priority to mentor and train new interpreters, with a particular focus on interpreting ethics, professional standards, and practical skills. The role-play courses and other training programs he has developed are based on realistic situations drawn from many years of experience in the interpreting field.

We are proud to share this knowledge and experience with the next generation of interpreters and to help them build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Our goal is simple: to share what we have learned, help others grow, and “Pay It Forward!”
